Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear to camp?

Jeff Lake Day Camp staff members will be required to wear staff shirts (that will be provided) from Monday-Thursday. Friday is “Jeff Lake Retro T-Shirt Day”! If this is going to be your first summer, don’t worry; we have several vintage Jeff Lake Tees to go around.

General Counselors must also be in sneakers and a respectable bathing suit every day.

Can I take time off for vacation?

Being on staff at Jeff Lake Day Camp is a full 8-week commitment. We do not offer time off for vacations and we have 3 meetings, prior to camp starting, that are mandatory as well. However, working outside everyday and providing a fun and safe environment for your campers is an exciting summer vacation in itself!

How do I get to camp?

If you are a Jeff Lake Day Camp staff member who lives on an existing bus route, you are eligible for door-to-door transportation. However, you may not get picked up from your house, rather at a camper’s house on the bus route in your neighborhood.

If you live outside an area that we bus, you can drive and meet a bus from a nearby area or you may receive a parking spot at camp, however this is not guaranteed, as parking spots on camp property are limited.

What are the hours of camp?

The first period of the Jeff Lake Day camp day starts at 9:30am and the day ends at 4:00pm. If you ride on a bus you may get picked at 8:00am and dropped off 5:15pm.

HOWEVER – the day doesn’t have to stop there. After the last bus pulls out of camp feel free to join us at camp Softball Games. They are a great way to meet new and old staff and keep the Jeff Lake Day Camp spirit going into the evening. After hours is also a great time to get together with your counselor to make awards for your group and plan other fun activities.
